Project Controls Specialist

Project Controls SpecialistWe are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical lead supporting complex engineering, construction, utility, and capital projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project scheduling, cost control, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and project performance analysis using tools such as Primavera P6, Maximo, and PowerPlan.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Controls & MonitoringMonitor and analyze project cost, schedule, scope, and performance metrics.Track project progress, variances, change requests, and KPIs.Conduct schedule and cost trend analysis and provide recommendations to management.Develop and maintain project schedules and forecasts.Ensure project controls processes and standards are followed.Financial Planning & Cost ManagementManage project budgets, forecasting, accruals, and financial reporting.Perform cost analysis, economic evaluations, and variance reporting.Support portfolio planning and capital project funding activities.Coordinate with accounting teams on project financials and work order classifications.Scheduling & Risk ManagementDevelop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.Perform resource loading, resource allocation, and schedule optimization.Conduct risk assessments and support mitigation planning.Prepare schedule scenarios and project benefit analyses.Reporting & Stakeholder ManagementPrepare and distribute project status, financial, risk, and performance reports.Provide project controls expertise to project managers and leadership teams.Support project meetings, reviews, and governance activities.Collaborate with engineering, construction, operations, contractors, and business stakeholders.Leadership ResponsibilitiesAct as a technical lead and SME for project controls practices and tools.Mentor junior project controls team members.Drive process improvements and best practices.Support business planning, workforce planning, and long-range forecasting initiatives.Required QualificationsAssociate's degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, Project Management, Construction Management, Accounting, Economics, or related field with relevant experience.OR High School Diploma/GED with equivalent project controls experience.Experience as a Project Controls Specialist with increasing levels of responsibility.Strong expertise in: Primavera P6Project SchedulingCost ControlBudgeting & ForecastingEarned Value Management (EVM)Financial ReportingResource Loading & AllocationRisk ManagementPreferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a related field.PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.AACE Certification.Experience supporting utility, energy, power generation, engineering, construction, or industrial projects.Experience with Maximo, PowerPlan, and enterprise project management systems.
