CNC Machinist

Job Overview CNC Machinist (3 & 5-Axis) Location: Kansas City, KS Shifts: 2nd Shift (3 PM – 11 PM) or 3rd Shift (11 PM – 7 AM) Salary: $52,000 - $72,800 per year Join a premier leader in rail manufacturing that has been the industry gold standard for over 65 years. We are looking for a CNC professional who wants to own their station and master advanced 5-axis technology. Responsibilities Setup & Operation: Perform independent setups and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture high-precision railroad infrastructure components. Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret complex industrial blueprints, engineering drawings, and G-code/M-code to ensure 100% part accuracy. Precision Inspection: Conduct first-article and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges to maintain tight industrial tolerances. Tooling Management: Select appropriate cutting tools and fixtures; perform tool wear offsets and replacements to ensure continuous production quality. Off-Shift Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose and resolve mechanical or programming issues on the shop floor to minimize downtime during 2nd and 3rd shift hours. Process Optimization: Monitor machine cycle times and performance, adjusting speeds and feeds to improve efficiency and reduce material waste. Material Handling: Safely utilize manual tools and equipment to load and prep heavy rail materials for the machining process. Shift Communication: Maintain accurate production logs and detailed handoff notes to ensure seamless transition between shifts. Safety & 5S: Adhere to all OSHA and facility-specific safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organized workspace in a high-output environment.
