Position Description The Stadium Audio Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the stadium's professional audio systems. This position serves as the primary technical resource for all audio‑related infrastructure supporting NFL games, other sporting events, concerts, corporate events, and other stadium activities. The Stadium Audio Engineer will support both day‑to‑day stadium operations and live event production while working closely with Venue Technology, Game Presentation, Broadcast, Operations, IT/Network Infrastructure, Facilities, and external vendors. Essential Functions Audio System Operations Operate and support the stadium's professional audio systems during NFL games, sporting events, concerts, corporate events, and other live events. Serve as the primary technical resource for stadium sound reinforcement systems, including bowl audio, concourse audio, clubs, suites, press areas, and other venue spaces. Configure, test, and operate audio systems to support game presentation, public address, emergency messaging, music playback, live microphones, and other event-related audio requirements. Support audio playback, routing, mixing, and distribution for live events and productions. Ensure consistent audio quality and coverage throughout the venue. System Maintenance and Troubleshooting Perform preventative maintenance, system testing, and routine inspections of stadium audio infrastructure. Diagnose and resolve issues involving amplifiers, loudspeakers, DSP processors, digital audio networks, microphones, wireless systems, consoles, playback systems, and associated control systems. Troubleshoot complex and intermittent system failures in a live production environment. Identify root causes of system issues and implement permanent corrective actions whenever possible. Maintain documentation of system configurations, signal flow, equipment inventories, troubleshooting procedures, and known issues. Monitor the condition and performance of aging infrastructure and develop recommendations for repair, replacement, redundancy, and modernization. Audio Engineering and System Management Configure and maintain digital signal processing, audio routing, and control systems. Manage digital audio transport and networking technologies, including Dante, AES67, MADI, Blu Link, or other applicable protocols. Configure audio signal routing between stadium production systems, broadcast systems, field locations, locker rooms, clubs, and other facility spaces. Support integration between audio systems and related technologies, including video production, broadcast, control systems, IPTV, emergency communications, and venue automation systems. Maintain system backups and configuration files for critical audio equipment. Assist with the design, commissioning, and implementation of new audio systems and infrastructure. Wireless and RF Audio Operate and maintain professional wireless microphone and IFB systems. Coordinate frequencies and RF requirements with internal stakeholders, broadcasters, the NFL, and external frequency coordination partners. Support game officials, coaches, game presentation talent, performers, and other event personnel requiring wireless audio systems. Game Day and Live Event Support Participate in all required NFL game‑day rehearsals, sound checks, system checks, and event preparation. Serve as a primary audio engineer during home games and other major events. Respond quickly to technical issues during live events while minimizing disruption to game presentation or venue operations. Coordinate with Game Presentation, Broadcast, Football Operations, Stadium Operations, and third‑party production vendors. Support visiting teams, broadcasters, league representatives, promoters, and outside production companies as required. Event and Venue Support Provide technical support and guidance for non‑NFL events, including concerts, soccer matches, college football, corporate events, private events, and community activities. Review event requirements and determine audio system capabilities, limitations, staffing requirements, and technical needs. Assist with event planning, production advances, site visits, and technical walkthroughs. Coordinate with outside audio vendors when supplemental equipment or personnel is required. Provide technical oversight to ensure third‑party equipment integrates safely and properly with stadium infrastructure. Project Planning and Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, audio quality, and redundancy. Develop recommendations for capital improvements and equipment replacement. Assist with budgeting, vendor selection, equipment evaluation, and project planning. Participate in the development of long‑term stadium technology and audio system roadmaps. Manage or support outside contractors and integrators during system upgrades, repairs, and installations. Maintain current knowledge of professional audio technologies and industry best practices. Management Responsibilities This position does not manage employees. Employee is expected to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment. Non‑Essential Functions Participate in long‑term technology planning, budgeting, and capital replacement strategies. Familiarity with Video and Broadcast distribution. Provide technical guidance and training to other Venue Technology staff and event personnel. Develop and maintain relationships with audio manufacturers, integrators, touring production companies, broadcast partners, and other industry professionals. Assist with special projects involving integration of audio systems with video, broadcast, lighting, networking, control, and other venue technologies. Provide occasional technical support for projects or events outside the normal scope of stadium audio operations. Represent the Venue Technology department at meetings with internal departments, vendors, contractors, and event partners when appropriate. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Experience & Education Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Music Technology, Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in live sound, broadcast audio, venue audio, sports production, or a similar technical environment. Demonstrated experience operating and troubleshooting large‑scale professional audio systems. Experience working in a professional sports venue, stadium, arena, or other large‑scale entertainment facility. Experience supporting NFL, NCAA, MLS, NHL, concert touring, or major live events. Experience with enterprise‑scale DSP and control platforms such as Audio Architect. Experience with digital audio networking technologies such as Dante, AES67, MADI, or Blu Link. Experience with professional wireless systems, including Shure Axient Digital or similar platforms. Experience with RF coordination and spectrum management. Familiarity with network fundamentals, VLANs, managed switches, and multicast networking as they relate to professional AV systems. Experience with audio measurement, system tuning, and loudspeaker optimization. Technical Knowledge Proficient with computers and standard office software. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or comparable tools. Comfortable learning and navigating new systems or applications. Basic troubleshooting of software or hardware issues. Comfortable adapting to technology updates and new digital processes. Experience using collaboration platforms such as Teams, Zoom, or similar. Additional Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of: Digital signal processing and audio routing Professional sound reinforcement systems Digital audio networking and transport Wireless microphone and RF systems Audio consoles and playback systems Amplifier and loudspeaker systems Signal flow and system troubleshooting Experience working in high‑pressure live production environments. Ability to interpret system drawings, signal flow diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to quickly isolate and resolve complex technical problems. Exceptional technical troubleshooting ability. Strong understanding of complex audio systems and signal flow. Work Environment Required to work all home games. Extended evening, weekend work hours sometimes required. May have to work occasional holidays. Required to drive company vehicle, personal vehicle, or golf cart. Physical Fitness Standards Must be able to lift 20 – 50 pounds. Must be able to perform occasional physical tasks, which may include working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat. Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, or technology (including but not limited to heavy machinery, forklifts, golf carts, vehicles).
