Diesel Truck Maintenance Technician - On‑Site & Road Service

Position Summary A Maintenance Technician B reports to a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager and performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks including chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, hydraulic electrical, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drive train and steering systems. The role also includes basic tire work such as replacement, tire rotation and tread depth checks. Tackle a new challenge every day Maintain and repair highly intricate and powerful machinery Receive training in new technologies and equipment Work a regular shift in a stable industry Be recognized for exceptional performance Serve your community and customers Follow strong career paths for professional growth Enjoy competitive wages and benefits Help make a positive impact on community, environment and world Principal Responsibilities Maintain a working knowledge and moderate skill proficiency in vehicle components and systems for preventative and repair maintenance on site and on the road Chassis component repair and maintenance Refuse body repair and maintenance, including control, hydraulic, electrical and air braking systems Light engine repair and maintenance Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems maintenance Heating and air conditioning maintenance Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication Provide safe road service to return equipment to operation efficiently Identify malfunctions using electronic tools Complete applicable company training programs Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent These statements describe general nature of work and are not exhaustive; duty may change at company discretion Qualifications Ability to diagnose multi‑system issues and demonstrate technical expertise Basic understanding of work‑order labor time standards Prior experience or knowledge of maintenance on Classes 1‑5 light/medium duty and heavy‑duty Class 7‑8 trucks, aircraft, or ships ASE certifications (T1‑T8) are a plus but not required Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required 3‑5 years of technician experience or graduate from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months Valid driver’s license Minimum Requirements Perform basic inspections with limited supervision in some heavy truck or automotive systems: suspensions & steering; general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions $5.5k sign‑on bonus 1st shift schedule Pay Range: $27.10 to $37.22—actual range depends on locality.
