Branch Manager

Our client, a well-established international freight forwarder and customs broker, is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead and grow its Los Angeles operation. This is more than an operational leadership role. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall commercial and financial performance of the branch, driving revenue growth, expanding market share, developing strategic customer relationships, and ensuring operational excellence. This individual will have full P&L responsibility while leading a team of 5–15 employees across air freight, ocean freight, and customs brokerage. The ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial leader who understands how to build a profitable freight forwarding business through strong customer relationships, employee development, and sound financial management. Key Responsibilities Assume full ownership of the branch's financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, and expense management. Develop and execute the branch's commercial strategy, identifying opportunities to increase market share and expand key customer relationships. Partner with the sales team to drive new business development while supporting the retention and growth of existing accounts. Build strong relationships with strategic customers, carriers, overseas partners, and vendors to maximize long-term business opportunities. Lead and mentor a team of 5–15 employees, fostering a high-performance, customer-focused culture. Oversee all branch operations across international air freight, ocean freight, and customs brokerage, ensuring service excellence and operational efficiency. Monitor key financial and operational performance metrics and implement initiatives to improve profitability and productivity. Work closely with executive leadership to develop annual business plans, sales objectives, and operational goals. Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase operational efficiency, and enhance the customer experience. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices. Qualifications Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience within the international freight forwarding industry. Proven success managing a freight forwarding branch or business unit with full P&L responsibility. Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth, improve profitability, and develop strategic customer relationships. Experience leading or partnering with business development teams to achieve sales objectives. Comprehensive knowledge of international air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, and supply chain operations. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance operational execution and commercial strategy.
