Position Overview Chai Discovery is seeking an AI Engineer to play a crucial role in developing our next-generation AI x biology foundation models and application to real-world drug discovery challenges. The AI Engineer will work closely with the founding team to build, optimize, and maintain the software and infrastructure that power our AI-driven drug discovery pipeline. This position is based full-time in San Francisco, CA. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with AI researchers to design, implement, and maintain software systems that support AI-driven drug discovery applications. Develop and optimize high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. Integrate AI models into production systems, platforms, and front-end applications, ensuring scalability and reliability. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python. Deep understanding of operating system internals (Unix). Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure such as Slurm and Kubernetes. Experience with performance engineering (familiarity with profiling tools, optimizing CPU and GPU workloads, writing CUDA and Triton kernels, and so forth) Experience writing, building, and maintaining large-scale ETL pipelines.
