Summary

We’re looking for an experienced carpenter to join our team and help us create the next generation of beautiful designs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, as well as experience with a variety of tools and techniques. He or she will be able to work independently, as well as take direction from our lead carpenter.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
• Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
• Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools, or power tools
• Finish surfaces of woodwork or wallboard
• Install trim pieces such as moldings, casings, or baseboards.
• Hang drywall sheets, apply plaster or other compounds, and sand seams between sheets to prepare wall surface for painting or wallpapering
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, millwork, and hardware
• Plan and lay out work to sequence and alternate finish installation, considering appearance, access, and structural support

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience as carpenter
• Solid understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
• Excellent mathematical skills and understanding complex plans and drawings.
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Good physical strength, stamina, and coordination
• Ability to work long hours standing, bending, and stooping.
• 3-5 years experience in construction and or carpentry work.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Leadership and supervisory experience
• Project management experience
• Working knowledge of CAD software and other computer programs
• Cabinet making and wood product experience a plus.
• Certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship program
