SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES A Teller has the responsibility to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Service Standards. Know and understand the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, rules, regulations, price structure, and a simple definition of each service offered. Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues. Seek opportunities to expand customer relationships by making referrals as outlined in the goals for this position. Present a neat and professional personal appearance, in accordance with bank policy. Assess and effectively manage all risks associated with job function. Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act. Develop a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and be able to discuss with and enroll customers in self‑service options. Perform the following teller duties: Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts; maintain a neat and orderly work area; assist in guiding and training new tellers; allow customers access to safe deposit boxes; cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits and in accordance with prescribed procedures; sell certified checks within assigned limits; balance transactions daily; service/balance ATM; utilize the branch capture system; follow policies and procedures to complete transactions, minimize operational errors, and maintain proper workflow; follow branch security and audit procedures and understand the function and operation of the security devices. TELLER 1 FUNCTIONS 18 months or less experience in teller duties. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: Cash handling, sales, customer service. Previous banking experience preferred. Specific Knowledge: Good interpersonal skills, good computer skills, ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES The SouthState Way. New Team Member Orientation. Teller Foundations. All assigned Regulatory Compliance Training. Acknowledgement of all policies through DocuSign as assigned. Additional training may be required dependent upon experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds, and be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation. The position is located inside a cooled and heated facility with ability to go to a break room or rest room during breaks. TRAVEL Travel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed.
