Job Description:
We are seeking a Locum Pathologist for a busy laboratory practice. The ideal candidate must be capable of grossing and will work alongside two other pathologists, three histotechs, two tech assistants, and two cytotechnologists. The workload generally includes 200-250 slides daily, divided among three pathologists. Each provider handles approximately 30-50 surgical cases and 10 cytology cases per day. Case types include surgical nephrology, general pathology, GI, breast, hematology (minimal), gynecology/non-gynecology, with very limited neuro cases (no neuro, peds, or autopsies). All heme-path cases, including bone marrow, are referred to Integrated Oncology.


Providers must be comfortable grossing and performing FNA/rapid interpretations. The grossing workload is about 3-4 hours every third day. The three-day rotation includes:

• Day 1: Grossing (40-50 cases), Frozen Sections (1-4 per week), Call (from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. next morning)
• Day 2: Read-out and IHC/Special Stains ordering
• Day 3: Cytology support for the Bronch suite and case read-outs

Schedule & Workflow:

• Each pathologist handles roughly 200-250 slides per day.
• Grossing approximately 3-4 hours every third day.
• Day shifts include grossing, frozen sections, and cytology.
• Call responsibilities during overnight hours.
