Systems Support Analyst

Job Title

This position provides analysis development and system support for the North Port Fire Rescue District.

Essential Job Functions

The essential job functions include:

• Providing timely and accurate technical guidance and consultation to end users, including business process improvements through the use of technology.
• Installing, configuring and maintaining computers, printers, scanners, laptops, tablets, software, audio/visual equipment and various other technology platforms.
• Performing maintenance on computer hardware, software, and other associated equipment.
• Providing technical hardware and software support and consultation to end users and colleagues.
• Performing technical design of various audio/visual systems and ancillary equipment, and providing training and support for these systems.
• Performing system management using tools such as Active Directory, Group Policy, Kace, and others.
• Creating, testing, and deploying software packages throughout the organization.
• Providing orientation or initial/follow up training for system users.
• Acting as department liaison to the Sarasota County 911 Center for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) issues.
• Designing, creating, maintaining and deploying computer images for a variety of operating systems and platforms.
• Providing recommendations regarding technology product selection, procurement and implementation.
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation.
• Performing testing and evaluations of various technologies.
• Assisting Network Administrator with troubleshooting of network and server issues with the use of appropriate administration tools.
• Documenting service events for internal controls and reporting purposes.
• Assisting with the administration of applications such as SharePoint, Web CMS, Kace, Group Policy, Active Directory and others.
• Working with third party vendors for advanced level hardware/software support.
• Adding and removing users to applications.
• Scheduling and communicating all system related downtime.

• Knowledge of the use, application and operation of various types of computer systems.
• Skill in customer service, including ability to communicate technical and other data effectively, both in person and in writing.
• Skilled in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
• Skilled in using computers for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
• Ability to translate technical terms to understandable language for users.
• Ability to keep information secure and confidential.
• Ability to interpret system specifications and prepare documentation.
• Ability to perform on-call, evening or weekend work.
• Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other employees and the public.
• Ability to research, diagnose and resolve technical problems.

Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications

The education, experience, licenses, and certifications required include:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or a combination of post-secondary technical education.
• Two (2) years of direct experience in a relevant information technology position.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
• CompTIA A+ certification preferred.

Will be required to submit to a State and National Criminal Background Investigation.

Emergency Response Responsibility Every City employee has emergency response responsibilities, though not every position will require routine assignments during an emergency event. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official job description. Assignments in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature, with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically and operationally challenging conditions.
