Mental Health Technician (MHT)

The Mental Health Technician (MHT), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is an active member of the patient treatment team and will provide care to patients whose ages range from adolescent through geriatrics. The MHT implements the therapeutic interventions developed by the treatment team for each patient and maintains awareness of patient's individualized plan of care (including goals and interventions). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assists with maintaining a safe and hazard free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting room searches, reporting unsafe conditions and applying appropriate emotional and physical support
• Utilizes patient activity schedule, unit rules and group structure to maintain consistency in the milieu
• Records progress notes that are reflective of patient's behaviors for specific incidents and conditions, such as suicidal thoughts/actions, AWOL's, aggressive behavior, special checks, restrictions, and unusual sleep patterns

Available Schedules Part-time Day and Night* Part-time MHTs will be scheduled 4 shifts in a two-week period with alternating weekend days, rotating holidays, and are part of an emergency team.

Day: 7:00am to 7:30pm Night: 7:00pm to 7:30am

Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum of one year of healthcare or behavioral health related experience and/or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Age-Specific Competencies: Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric Licensure/Certification:CPR/CPI Certification Required – provided upon hire.
