Medical Assistant Certification RequiredThe Medical Assistant is responsible for routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. Additional responsibilities include coordinating clinic patient flow, patient work-ups, exam room prep, and performing basic patient care activities.The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical recordsInterview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and heightPrepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and cleanCollect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testingOperate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic testsExplain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patientsPerform general office duties, such as answering telephones, taking dictation, or completing insurance formsClean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated suppliesMaintain inventory of test kits and order supplies for kits when necessaryHelp physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing suturesSecure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidentialGreet and check-in patients arriving at office or clinicPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)High school diploma/ GED; Associates degree in Medical Assisting preferredCurrent Medical Assistant certification (AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, NHA CCMA or NCCT NCMA) required; BCLS certification highly preferredX-Ray Radiology certified preferredMinimum two years of experience working in an ambulatory clinic/medical office setting preferredPossess an ability to function in a high stress, physically demanding settingKnowledge of health care regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)Exemplary customer service experience including client relationships and job knowledgeExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to exercise manual dexterity, control precision and arm-hand steadiness accuratelyAbility to be empathetic with patients; ability to maintain confidentialityRequirementsMedical Assistant Certification Required.
