SOURCING SPECIALIST, MECHANICAL (STARSHIP)The SpaceX Supply Chain department plays a pivotal role in advancing Starship's ambitious mission. Leveraging the company's groundbreaking technological and market-transforming successes, our team will help build and manage an agile, resilient supply chain that delivers a powerful competitive advantage. Core functions include procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics, and inventory management. By excelling in these areas, Supply Chain will be instrumental in achieving SpaceX's aggressive growth targets and accelerating our journey to make humanity a multi-planetary species.RESPONSIBILITIES:Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices related to assigned categoryForecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals to adjust incoming materialTrack high risk components and supplier delivery performanceCommunicate clearly and rapidly to influence decisions of vendors and senior leadershipInterpret engineering drawings and Bill of Material (BOMs)Develop a preferred supplier network and leverage it to minimize cost and lead time for the fabrication and delivery of partsSupported commodities include but are not limited to machined parts, electromechanical equipment, large machining, finish processes, mechanical assemblies, etc.Solve complex, open-ended problems with an emphasis on speed and efficiencyManage outsourced fabrication projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and manage vendor performancePerform onsite reviews of vendor capabilitiesResponsible for authoring of contract documents with the legal departmentManagement of contracts ensuring performance of the supplier to contract obligationsUnderstand interrelationships between contracts and terms while applying creativity and sound business reasoning to interpret application of contract to business needsUtilize negotiations to maximize value and cost savings benefit while lowering riskBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Advanced degree; or bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following: Engineering Supply Chain Purchasing Contract negotiation Material or production planning Operations management Material cost control Master production scheduling PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:2+ years of professional experience in technical sourcing, procurement, or planningSolid understanding of common manufacturing processes and machines including mills, lathes, waterjet, laser cutters, sheet metal fabrication, etc.Familiar with common material finishes and coatings, including paint, powder coat, anodize, heat treatment etc.Experience with Material Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and with managing bill of materials, work orders, and purchase orders.Experience with forecasting, demand planning, and lead time analysisStrong skills in data analysis using Excel, SQL and PowerBIEffective written and verbal communications skills, with strong ability to communicate to all levels of internal personnelAbility to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needsDetail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environmentAbility to conduct all activities with integrity and urgencyCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay Range:Sr. Sourcing Specialist: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
