Strategic Communications Associate

Position Summary The Strategic Comms Associate plays an important role in advancing FirstDay Foundation’s mission and the missions of our clients (affiliate companies). This position works closely with the Portfolio teams to develop, plan and execute strategic communication efforts, fostering integration across accounts and providing ongoing strategic recommendations to clients. With direction of the Sr. Account Executive, the Associate will create comprehensive communication plans, including media, creative, research, strategic planning, public relations, and digital initiatives that align with client objectives and deliver measurable impact. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred). 5 years of experience in Internal/External Communications, account management, communications, marketing, or PR in an ad agency or fast‑paced communications environment. Experience writing client reports, proposals, or strategic documents. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with familiarity in brand messaging, content strategy, or media relations. Strong editing, proofreading, and detail‑oriented skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Responsibilities Collaborate with Strategic Communications team members to contribute to strategic planning efforts for clients, fostering engagement and feedback across accounts within the assigned Portfolio. Develop and implement comprehensive communications plans aligned with each affiliate’s goals, ensuring all collateral is clear, concise, on‑brand and consistent in voice and messaging. Review drafts for quality, accuracy, tone, and messaging consistency before client delivery. Support storytelling and messaging strategy across campaigns and initiatives. Provide market research and campaign strategy development to help clients meet their objectives. Create messaging, talking points, and presentation materials for affiliates. Draft press releases and media advisories consistent with affiliate guidelines. Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, including status reports, billing summaries, and project recaps. Coordinate with creative teams to produce marketing collateral and other assets. Stay informed of current trends and news, engaging with community partners, chambers of commerce, and local business councils. Provide communications support for events, including collateral, signage, scripts, and social media promotion. Capture event content (photo/video coordination and recaps) in collaboration with the Junior Creative for the portfolio. Skills and Abilities Required Strong customer‑centered interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Excellent project management and multitasking abilities. Creative and strategic thinking. Understanding of current advertising trends and platforms. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
