Visual Merchandising Manager – Factory Outlet (Contract) Location: Boston, MA preferred | Remote eligible (Eastern or Central time zones only) Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: At least through end of year We’re hiring on behalf of a leading global brand in the athletic and lifestyle retail industry for a Visual Merchandising Manager to oversee execution across their North American Factory Outlet store fleet . This is a high-impact contract covering a medical leave during a peak retail window, with a focus on seasonal floorsets, high-volume promotional shifts, and multiple new store openings. This role sits at the intersection of brand and operations—bringing global visual strategies to life across physical spaces, while adapting layouts, messaging, and execution for the specific needs of Factory Outlet retail . Candidates must have corporate or regional visual merchandising experience and a deep understanding of factory/outlet retail environments . Individual store managers or boutique VMs will not be considered. Key Responsibilities: Own the monthly floorset process: layouts, zoning, product placement, and signage for all Factory Outlet locations Adapt global visual guidelines to regional needs and specific store formats Partner with Retail Design to plan fixture and mannequin placement across store footprints Brief in-store creative and organize distribution lists for signage, toolkits, and promotional assets Deliver clear and consistent direction to Store Ops and Field teams to ensure execution Travel up to 20% to support store openings, provide onsite training, and perform market visits Report on zone performance and apply data/sell-through trends to future visual strategies Ensure seamless brand alignment across outlets while keeping pace with real-time promo and inventory shifts Required Experience: 5+ years of experience in retail visual merchandising , with at least 2–3 years at the corporate or regional level Experience supporting visual merchandising across multiple outlet or factory locations Strong command of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop required), PowerPoint, and familiarity with VM software like IWD or SketchUp Deep understanding of fixture design, spatial planning, styling, and consumer presentation Excellent communication and project management skills; capable of building cross-functional relationships and working independently Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs when on-site Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in visual merchandising, fashion design, or retail marketing preferred The Right Fit: Comes from a retail apparel, footwear, or lifestyle brand environment Understands the difference between full-price and outlet retail : this role is fast-paced, responsive, and rooted in promotional adaptation Has led execution—not just design—across a large-scale store network Comfortable owning creative briefing, visual rollout, and cross-functional coordination in a deadline-driven environment Based in EST or CST; open to travel and able to start immediately This is not a conceptual or one-store creative role. This is a corporate-level position focused on scalable execution , visual consistency, and cross-functional leadership in a promotional retail setting.
