JOB SUMMARY:RIT’s Department of Electrical and Microelectronic Engineering Technology invites applications from candidates in the areas of digital electronics, analog electronics or electronics for biomedical systems. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and/or Microelectronic Engineering or a closely related field. The candidate’s research must specialize in one or more of the following areas: digital electronics , analog electronics , electronics for biomedical systems , quantum electronics or neuromorphic computing with a record of refereed publications in the area. Candidates must have prior teaching experience; potential for establishing and conducting sponsored research; excellent written and oral communication skills; and ability to collaborate within and beyond the department. COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:The Electrical and Microelectronic Department is one of six academic departments in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering. The Kate Gleason College of Engineering | RIT offers bachelor’s and master’s in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, and microelectronics engineering as well as four Ph.D. degrees in biomedical and chemical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical and industrial Engineering, and microsystems engineering and additional master’s programs in engineering management and leadership. Serving over 2600 undergraduates and 400 graduate students, the college is committed to growing its research profile while maintaining a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Major research themes include advanced manufacturing; biomedical and healthcare engineering; artificial intelligence and machine learning; cyber-physical systems; micro- and nanoscale systems devices and materials; energy and environment; and data analysis modeling and simulation. Hallmarks of the undergraduate experience include one full year of cooperative education, an innovative multidisciplinary senior design program, and an impressive variety of well-supported student teams and clubs.The Electrical Engineering Department has 550 undergraduates and 145 graduate students. Faculty and staff include 26 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, six lecturers, four support staff, and three academic advisors. In addition to teaching within the department, faculty conduct research and advise doctoral students in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Imaging Science, Computer and Information Sciences, and Sustainability. Faculty research expertise includes digital and computer systems, robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, biomedical devices, communications, controls, integrated devices/circuits, MEMs, electromagnetic fields, semiconductor electronics, photonics/optoelectronics and signal/image/video processing. Researchers have access to exceptional laboratory resources for design and simulation of electronic/photonic circuits and systems, and a state of the art microfabrication clean room facility that supports materials and processes for micro/nano devices.
