Rec Well - Wellness Ambassador (Fall 2026-Winter 2027) The Wellness Ambassadors assist with promoting and supporting the overall health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff by encouraging participation in wellness programs and initiatives. This role involves educating the campus community about available resources, wellness opportunities, and healthy lifestyle choices through in-person interactions, events, and digital platforms. The Wellness Ambassador will assist in organizing wellness events, activities, and campaigns, fostering a positive and supportive environment for physical, mental, and emotional health. They will serve as a resource, providing information, guidance, and support to help individuals reach their wellness goals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to commit at least 5 hours per week Be willing to uphold the standards of healthy living Must be in good academic standing at Oakland University Must not be found responsible of severe conduct infractions and be in good standing judicially at Oakland University Ability to Work Independently: Proven track record of effectively managing time and tasks with minimal supervision while consistently meeting deadlines and achieving goals. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Leadership Experience: Strong understanding of leadership. Able to motivate individuals and manage projects from start to completion. Ability to inspire confidence and build strong working relationships with supervisors and peers. Attention to Detail: Exceptional focus on accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring that all tasks are completed with care. Skilled in identifying potential errors or areas for improvement in processes. Professionalism: Maintains a high standard of professionalism in all interactions, demonstrating respect, courtesy, and a positive attitude in fast-paced environments. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Maintain a minimum of 5 in-person office hours per week to connect with supervisors and team members. Communicate with other Recreation and Well-Being areas and other campus & community partners for various programs. Program Planning & Coordination Conduct research and benchmarking to create and implement engaging, enjoyable, and supportive programs that benefit the OU community. Engage actively in program brainstorming sessions throughout the year Generate awareness of health topics impacting OU students and employees through a variety of methods including presentations, workshops, educational tabling, programs and events, social media campaigns, flyers, personal interactions, as well as general accessibility through programs participation Collaborate with team members to support all program preparations, including aiding colleagues and occasionally taking charge. Contribute to program planning as assigned. Work independently and collaboratively to complete projects and programs efficiently. Be willing to seek out opportunities to collaborate, including but not limited to within Recreation & Well-Being, OU Student Organizations, OU Departments, etc. Provide appropriate care in emergency situations as stated in the Emergency Action Plan. COMPENSATION $15/hour - Minimum rate for new hires CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Available to work on average 8-10 hours per week in this role, including various shifts during nights, weekends, and early mornings. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings. Act in accordance with the Clery Act as a mandated reporter and carry out responsibilities in reporting a crime on campus as a University Recreation and Well-Being staff member. Must be enrolled part-time, at least 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate students and 4 credit hours for graduate students at Oakland University. Must obtain Certified Peer Educator (CPE) certification through NASPA upon hire. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Wellness Ambassadors report directly to the Employee & Student Well-Being Coordinator. Wellness Ambassadors indirectly report to the Wellness Team Leads and Assistant Director of Fitness and Well-Being. Additionally, Wellness Ambassadors may receive on-duty requests or instruction from any Rec Well professional staff member. #J-18808-Ljbffr
