Job Summary:
Operating Room Open Heart Specialty Nurse located in Reston, Virginia. This position involves providing specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing open heart procedures, including CABG, MVR, TVR, AVR, VATS, and vascular surgeries. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day and must meet the specified qualifications for this role.

Job Details:

• Location: Reston, Virginia
• Schedule: Days shift with 8 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); Registered Nurse (RN) license; experience in operating room procedures including scrub or circulate techniques, room setup, room turnover, obtaining disposables and instrument sets as needed or indicated. Additional skills include sterile technique, central line setup, arterial line setup, Belmont system operation, and cell saver setup.
• Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification is preferred.
• Additional Information: The unit has a state-of-the-art environment with advanced equipment such as Belmont, ESU, positioning devices, and documentation via Meditech Expanse. The team comprises experienced staff, including charge nurses, service line coordinators, and auxiliary support, with a focus on excellent communication, team collaboration, and proactive problem solving. Floating to main operating rooms may be required.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.

  • Number of beds: 2
  • Patient ratios: 1:1
  • Staff includes board runners, charge nurses, service line coordinators, and ancillary support for room turnovers
  • Equipment includes Belmont, ESU, and various surgical setup tools
  • Standards: Adherence to unit policies, focus on patient experience, and teamwork during complex procedures.
