Position Overview We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our Planning team at our Lewiston, Maine facility. This role is responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, optimizing production processes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility. The Industrial Engineer will analyze workflows, identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve throughput, implement process improvements, and collaborate across departments to enhance safety, quality, and operational performance. Key Responsibilities Analyze manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning to optimize labor and equipment utilization Support production layout improvements, standard work development, and manufacturing process documentation Partner with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) Support capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and manufacturing automation initiatives Analyze production data and develop performance metrics to support operational decision-making Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities to improve product quality and process reliability What Success Looks Like Improved manufacturing efficiency, throughput, and equipment utilization Reduced waste, downtime, and production costs Successful implementation of Lean and continuous improvement projects Accurate manufacturing documentation and process standards Strong collaboration across Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams Measurable improvements in safety, quality, and operational performance Ideal Candidate Profile Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field 2–5 years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience preferred Experienced with factory capacity modeling required Background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing data and performance metrics Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel; Power BI or other CAD software is a plus Knowledge of manufacturing processes, workflow optimization, ergonomics, and capacity planning Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills Experience in aerospace, defense, precision machining, metals manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing environments preferred Why Join Elmet Technologies Opportunity to drive operational improvements within a growing advanced manufacturing organization Exposure to aerospace, defense, semiconductor, and energy industries High-impact role supporting manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement initiatives Collaborative engineering culture focused on innovation, problem-solving, and professional development Compensation: $78,000–$90,000 annually , plus a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, and career development opportunities Search Process Note The Elmet Group is managing this search directly and is not accepting submissions from outside recruitment firms.
