• 2+ years of painting experience
• Basic manufacturing or production experience

• Experience with spray guns, paint mixing, surface preparation, and coatings preferred

FULL DESCRIPTION:   We are seeking a Production Painter to support painting, production, preparation, coating, assembly, and quality control activities in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for preparing leather and composite helmets for painting, cleaning, sanding, masking, operating spray guns, applying primer, paint, and protective coatings, mixing paints to required specifications, inspecting finished products, completing documentation, and assisting with minor assembly as needed. The ideal candidate will have painting experience, manufacturing or production skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures while maintaining quality and safety standards.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing leather and composite helmets for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and completing proper surface preparation
• Operating spray guns to apply primer, paint, and protective coatings
• Applying coatings with proper pattern coverage and finish quality
• Mixing paints to specified color, viscosity, and thickness according to technical requirements
• Performing quality checks on painted helmets for defects, consistency, and adherence to standards
• Maintaining knowledge of appropriate cleaners, materials, and paint application methods
• Reading work orders, procedures, parts lists, and process instructions
• Gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials needed for assigned work
• Assisting with assembly of fire and rescue helmets as needed
• Following detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures
• Using fine motor skills to piece unique materials together accurately
• Using hand-held power tools as needed
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and clutter-free work area
• Looking for opportunities to improve processes and eliminate waste
• Following Lean manufacturing concepts and supporting continuous improvement
• Completing required production and quality control documentation accurately
• Supporting organizational goals, core values, and growth plans
• Following all safety procedures and guidelines
• Working independently and as part of a team
• Performing other duties as assigned

The selected candidate will also possess:

• High school diploma, equivalent work experience, or equivalent work training preferred
• 2+ years of painting experience required
• Manufacturing experience preferred
• Production assembly experience preferred
• Experience preparing surfaces for painting preferred
• Experience using spray guns preferred
• Experience applying primer, paint, and protective coatings preferred
• Experience mixing paint to required specifications preferred
• Experience inspecting painted products for quality, finish, and consistency preferred
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
• Ability to read drawings and process instructions required
• Ability to read work orders, procedures, and parts lists required
• Strong attention to detail required
• Understanding of what makes a good, quality product required
• Ability to use fine motor skills for detailed production work required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team required
• Willingness to follow Lean manufacturing concepts required
• Willingness to embrace company culture required
• Willingness to make suggestions and support daily improvements required
• Ability to produce products to customer specifications required
• Experience performing repetitive and non-repetitive production assembly operations preferred
• Working knowledge of hand-held power tools preferred
• Basic computer and word processing skills preferred
• Ability to work onsite in Riverside, CA

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, lift, carry, and move throughout production and painting areas as needed
• Ability to use hands and fingers for sanding, masking, painting, spraying, coating, assembly, documentation, tool use, and standard production tasks
• Ability to work with leather helmets, composite helmets, paints, primers, coatings, cleaners, adhesives, tools, parts, subassemblies, and related production materials
• Ability to visually inspect painted products, finishes, surfaces, defects, coatings, masking, and assembled components for quality and accuracy
• Ability to perform detailed, repetitive hand and finger movements while maintaining precision and quality standards
• Ability to read work orders, procedures, drawings, parts lists, process instructions, production documents, and computer screens as needed
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move standard production materials, parts, tools, assemblies, and equipment as needed
• Ability to work around painting equipment, spray guns, manufacturing tools, production materials, and shop floor activity
• Ability to wear required PPE and follow all safety, quality, production, painting, and material handling procedures
• Ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and attention to detail in a manufacturing and production painting environment

Salary Range: $18 to $20/hour
