Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist Computed Tomography (CT)

Summary The Kansas City VA Medical Center - Diagnostic Imaging Service is seeking a full‑time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (CT) for the VA Medical Center in Kansas City MO. Qualifications United States Citizenship or eligible non‑citizen per VA Policy. Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certification required for CT duties; advanced certification indicates independent operation and clinical competency. For those lacking advanced certification, on‑job training may be provided under oversight of a certified radiologic technologist. Minimum education: completion of at least 24 months of post‑high‑school diagnostic radiologic technology program accredited by JRCERT or other recognized agency, evidenced by certificate or associate degree. English language proficiency in spoken and written communication. Eligibility for grandfathering under VA qualification standards may apply for current VHA employees. Creditable experience requirements (knowledge of current radiologic technology practice, experience after basic certification, etc.). Duties and Responsibilities Perform computed tomography (CT) examinations as required by the Radiology Service, including multi‑slice & spiral CT, 3D reconstructions, and procedures such as drainages and biopsies. Provide on‑call coverage for CT modality as necessary. Maintain current advanced registry in CT and operate CT scanners independently. Select and set protocols and parameters for each patient’s exam; conduct patient intake interviews and educate patients. Monitor patients during all stages of examinations, administer contrast media and medications under radiologist supervision. Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and report any issues. Register patients and procedures in the KanVista Radiology Package and perform accurate case editing with appropriate CPT codes. Maintain imaging files, archiving, and Picture Archival Communication System (PACS) records. Replenish supplies and ensure sterility of equipment. Perform additional duties assigned by the supervisor or Chief Technologist. Additional Information Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 45 pounds, sit, stand, walk, and perform intermittent bending, reaching, and manipulation tasks.
