Job Details:


• 12-hour shifts available on days (7:00 AM - 7:30 AM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend requirement including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirement of typically 2-3 holidays in winter, otherwise every other holiday
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing, schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 dependent on acuity
• Nurse aide support available: Days 1:9, Nights 1:12
• 28-bed unit with a neuro focus
• Common diagnoses include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia Gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, neuro specialties, AMS, dementia, trauma ortho injuries, hematomas, bleeds, falls on blood thinners, and farm and MVA accidents
• Must have 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience with experience in setting within the last 1 year
• Must have drip experience; required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
• Tracheostomy and ventilator experience highly preferred; willing to train on vents but must be open to learning
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2
• Central telemetry monitor located in a different area
• Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
• Any solid color scrubs required
• Orientation includes 1 general shift and 1 shift with a preceptor
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Must clock in and out at the facility

The PCU is a 28-bed unit with a strong neurological focus, supported by respiratory therapy equipment and a dedicated care team including charge nurses and nurse aides. The organization supports a wide range of specialties including neurosciences, cardiac care, orthopedics, and hematology/oncology, providing travelers with a dynamic and well-rounded clinical environment.
