OPEN-AREA TENURE-TRACK POSITION AT THE RANK OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. We seek innovative neuroscientists working in any area of psychology whose research advances understanding of behavior, learning, and/or cognition. We are open to candidates who use experimental approaches with human or non-human animals as well as those who use computational approaches or modeling. The position includes a generous startup package and opportunities for teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels; the teaching load for assistant professors is 1:1. We particularly welcome candidates whose work will foster interdisciplinary collaborations with the Iowa Neuroscience Institute and other research communities across campus. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative research environment with extensive opportunities for interaction across the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Carver College of Medicine, the College of Engineering, the College of Education, and the College of Public Health. The department’s faculty contribute actively to the university’s large and growing neuroscience community, which includes the Iowa Neuroscience Institute, an NIH-supported Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience, a thriving undergraduate neuroscience major, and the NIH-funded iDream postbaccalaureate program. The NIH-supported Behavioral-Biomedical Interface Training Program further promotes integrative and cross-disciplinary research, while the DeLTA Center brings together scholars interested in learning and development across the lifespan. Iowa also supports a growing community of computational and data scientists.
