Project ManagerA primary managerial position in a specific project and shares responsibility for project successes. Recognized ability to impact revenue and growth. Manages the firm's resources (people, processes and tools) and assignments with proficiency, fluency and aptitude. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm's values and mission.Responsibilities:Acts as a primary client relationship for respective project, building and strengthening connections through a comprehensive understanding of their project mission, goals, policies, needs and progressManages the execution and delivery of implementation documents through all phases of a project, including post-occupancy evaluation and sharing/harvesting lessons learned and project impactCollaborates on the design process including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, document preparation and construction administrationCoordinates project team interaction both internally and all other project participantsOversees application of products and materials appropriate for the projectIntegrates HKS expertise and innovation in all projects, while actively seeking opportunities to incorporate HKS best practices, sustainable design solutions, subject matter expertise and resources strategically and efficiently for the client, user and communityManages the project team in collaboration with other disciplines to establish design solutions that can be technically implemented within the constraints of the project goals, budgets, available time and within local ordinances and codesExercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues through the scope of the projectMay lead client presentations and public hearings as neededMonitors project to anticipate potential risks and collaborates with the PIC, legal team and client to resolve issuesHolds project team responsible for detailed code and zoning analysis, performance analysis and deliverables on HKS standards, best practices and quality expectationsCollaborates in project meeting management, including scheduling, determining meeting purpose, preparing agendas and meeting report and maintaining action items log on regular basisAttends on-site visits and field reviews as necessaryTravel will be requiredQualifications:Education and ExperienceAccredited professional degree in Architecture or equivalent in education or experienceTypically 8+ years of experienceLicenses and CertificationsArchitectural Registration strongly preferredSustainable design accreditation preferredKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAdvanced – expert-level experience, knowledge or skillsIntermediate – experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or workBasic – familiar with primary concepts or capabilities and may perform elementary functions depending on roleAdvanced skills in Bluebeam requiredBasic skills in Revit and Navisworks required; intermediate preferredBasic knowledge of Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo, Twinmotion, Enscape or other visualization tools requiredIntermediate skills in Illustrator and InDesign required; basic skills in Photoshop requiredAdvanced experience in all phases of architectural design and construction requiredAdvanced experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy requiredBasic knowledge of Vision preferredAdvanced skills in MS Office Suite requiredAdvanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines requiredAdvanced knowledge of architectural building systems requiredAdvanced knowledge of materials, construction techniques, building codes, QA/QC process, constructability and accessibility guidelines requiredIntermediate experience in logistics management including connecting people and resources to the right place at the right time requiredAdvanced presentation, graphic and visualization skills to communicate ideas requiredAdvanced organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time requiredAdvanced ability to manage team with diplomatic and collaborative leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external requiredAdvanced ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing requiredAdvanced ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions requiredAdvanced ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment requiredAdvanced ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality requiredBase Salary Range: $100-135k annually – Chicago and Seattle location only.The estimate displayed represents the general base salary range of candidates hired in the listed locations only. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role.
