Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a large Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring TNCC, ACLS, and BLS certifications with prior Level I Trauma experience.

Details

• Works in a combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department within a large, Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center with over 1,500 staffed beds
• 13-week contract with night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule
• Average patient ratio of 1:6
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required, including potential rotation to other campuses and ED observation
• Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
• Charting is performed in Epic (preferred experience)
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling available upon request

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required; CT license takes 15–21 business days to issue, so candidates must apply prior to consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, PALS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC
• Minimum 1.5 years of ED experience required; 2 years strongly preferred (experience must be from a comparable hospital setting)
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• RN license must be free of prior disciplinary actions
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include managing a high-acuity ED patient population including psychiatric holds, drug overdose, acute psychosis, traumatic injuries, CVA, STEMI, and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Required clinical skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Preferred skills include care of ventilated patients, intubation, ICP monitoring, ortho trauma management, and neuro-trauma
• Flu vaccination is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccine exemptions are accepted for religious or medical reasons only
• Candidates who were previously permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Pending CT license is accepted; candidates must apply for licensure prior to starting
• RTO exceeding 7 days requires facility approval
• Weekend call-out policy is in effect: missed weekend shifts must be made up within the following 6-week scheduling period per facility policy
