Banquet Captain for the Brand New Mindaro Event Center! Vesta Hospitality | Portland, Oregon Are you a hospitality professional who loves creating memorable events and thrives in a fast-paced environment? Vesta Hospitality is looking for a Part-Time On-Call Banquet Captain to join our team! As a Banquet Captain, you’ll help lead the execution of weddings, meetings, celebrations, and other special events while ensuring our guests receive exceptional service from start to finish. What You’ll Do * Lead and direct banquet staff during events to ensure smooth and efficient service. * Set up and break down banquet rooms, tables, chairs, linens, and service areas. * Ensure food and beverage service follows event specifications and established standards. * Act as a point of contact for guests and event organizers during assigned events. * Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager and other hotel departments. * Monitor timing, presentation, cleanliness, and overall guest experience throughout the event. * Coach and support banquet team members to maintain high service standards. * Respond professionally and promptly to guest needs and requests. * Help resolve service issues and escalate concerns appropriately. * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. * Follow all hotel, safety, sanitation, and service standards. What We’re Looking For * Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred. * Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a plus. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. * Comfortable directing and supporting a team. * Guest-focused attitude with a genuine desire to provide exceptional service. * Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as events require. * Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout events for extended periods. * Must be dependable and available to work on an as-needed basis.
