Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team in Port Jefferson, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent technical skills, and a passion for providing compassionate care to animals.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments.
• Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
• Monitor and care for hospitalized animals, including pain management and wound care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, and post-treatment care.
• Operate and maintain veterinary equipment and instruments.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols.

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification in the state of New York.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a veterinary technician.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to animal care.
• Proficient in using veterinary software and electronic medical records.
