Overview Utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age‑appropriate nursing care for assigned patients on a variety of medical/surgical inpatient nursing units. The seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive, age‑appropriate plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes. Meet the educational needs of the patient and family, utilizing appropriate principles of teaching/learning. Promote safe, efficient, family‑centered care. Delegate nursing care based on knowledge of staff qualifications/competency and patient care requirements. Participate in performance improvement activities and attend education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees. Qualifications Associate’s Degree ADN required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. Bachelor’s Degree preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of hire date. Licensed RN – MO or RN – Kansas with the appropriate multistate licenses upon hire. RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO. Employees must obtain KS or MO multistate license within 30 days of hire. Life Support Certifications required upon hire per Nursing and Advanced Practice Provide Licensure and Certification policy. Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population preferred upon hire.
