Clinical Engineering Supervisor

This role supports clinical engineering initiatives to provide superior customer service and operational efficiency by managing the execution of the TRIMEDX Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP). This position assists the Clinical Engineering Manager with program management, including work history data analysis, staffing allocation, budget control, equipment acquisition planning and outside vendor management. The supervisor manages operations day-to-day, collaborates with customers, develops colleagues, and serves as a communication channel between hospital executives and TRIMEDX. The position may include a hands-on service component and directs Joint Commission inspections to ensure regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Leadership - Apply knowledge and experience of technology and/or equipment to oversee site operations and provide direction to others. Motivate others through praise, recognition, and rewards. Manage personnel by staffing and scheduling technicians to assure the best service. Conduct semi-annual and annual technician performance evaluations. Coach and mentor technicians with feedback and corrective action. Develop others to achieve long- and short-term business results. Participate in hiring of new employees. Build and maintain relationships with customers using interpersonal and conflict-management skills. Influence change through recommendations. Operations Management - Manage service operations functions, including service contracts and resources. Document demand labor, demand parts, contracts, in-house labor, and in-house parts. Apply policies and use sound judgement. Address root causes of technological/process problems. Manage inventory of shop supplies and annual inventory. Develop service strategies with a view to continuous process improvement and provide metrics to TriMedx Central/Corporate Office. Participate in Quarterly Value Reviews and system-level reports. Manage Joint Commission inspections and ensure open work orders are prioritized with documented performance assurance inspections. Manage site KPIs (PMs, WOTs, Alerts, and Regulatory). Support and participate in work order approval and continuous improvement actions. Account Management & Development - Collaborate with customers and vendors to develop win-win solutions. Monitor modalities against financial and performance benchmarks. Participate in departmental meetings (Imaging, Lab, OR Directors). Serve as Site Manager or Senior Site Manager as needed. Advise users of equipment status and ensure service documentation is complete, timely, and accurate. Manage contract recommendations and participate on hospital committees (Environment of Care, Capital Planning). Schedule workload and maintenance leveling to improve daily operations. Identify problems/trends and implement long-term solutions. Manage on-call rotations and evaluate parts and vendor service requests. Influence change through recommendations and support continuous improvement initiatives with leadership. General - May oversee sites with less than $3M in revenue. Budget and expense management. Support upper management tactically; may spend up to 25% time performing technician work. Travel may be required based on customer or business needs. Lead and develop associates; drive engagement and performance. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures and maintain a culture of respect and collaboration. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment or equivalent. Experience leading/managing in a clinical engineering environment preferred but not required. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage day-to-day and long-term site operations. Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills; ability to lead, motivate, and develop others. Ability to perform basic financial analysis and calculate budgets, revenue, and costs. Knowledge of state and federal inspection agencies (TJC, CAP, DNV, and other accrediting bodies). Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to mentor technicians and lead teams; prior management roles such as Assistant Site Manager or Senior Technician are favorable. Education: Associate degree or equivalent; electronics-related technical discipline or equivalent military training preferred. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
