COMSEC Test Engineer

Position: TS/SCI COMSEC Test Engineer I

Location: onsite in San Antonio, TX at JBSA-Lackland

Duration: 9-month contract-to-permanent

Pay Rate: $30-40/hour (depending on experience)

Required Skills & Experience:

• Active Top-Secret SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
• 3+ years of hands-on experience testing communication security (COMSEC) equipment
• Experience drafting and reviewing test plans, results and proposals for solutions

Job Description:

• Support end-to-end testing of COMSEC systems and equipment, from planning through execution and reporting
• Design and execute test plans to validate secure communications, encryption/decryption, and key management functionality
• Evaluate COMSEC devices, systems, and environments to ensure they meet security, performance, and operational requirements
• Analyze test results to identify vulnerabilities, performance gaps, or compliance issues, and recommend solutions
• Ensure test environments accurately replicate real-world secure communication scenarios, including fault testing and recovery
• Coordinate testing across multiple system releases while managing priorities, risks, and timelines
• Support evaluation of government and commercial COMSEC technologies to ensure compliance with DoD standards
• Develop models or simulations to validate secure system performance and user requirements
• Perform risk, reliability, and performance assessments related to secure communications systems
• Partner with engineers, cybersecurity teams, and program leadership to solve complex security and system integration challenges

IG Consultants: While on contract, you will be an Insight Global employee working for a particular company/end client on W2.

• Pay Day: Payroll is processed every Friday and paid one week in arrears.
• Holidays: Consultants will receive 7 paid holidays over the course of their contract.
• Time Off: In addition to the paid holidays, consultants are eligible for 5 paid days off (PTO) during their contract term. Aside from these allotted paid days, compensation is provided only for hours worked. Paid sick leave beyond this PTO is not offered unless required by applicable law.
