Software Development Manager, Homepage

When you open the Amazon app, the Homepage is the first thing you see. Our team decides what goes there, building the systems that allocate, personalize, and render this surface for hundreds of millions of customers, billions of times a day. We are rebuilding it from the ground up with science and automation.You will lead a team that spans engineering and science, turning models for allocation, opportunity cost, and personalization into the production systems that run Homepage and replace manual curation with intelligent ones. If you want to lead the team that shapes how Amazon's front door operates for years to come, we want to meet you.Key job responsibilities- Lead a team that spans engineering and science, turning allocation, opportunity-cost, and personalization models into the production systems that run Homepage.- Replace manual curation with intelligent systems, owning the roadmap for automation, campaign management, and content quality (including the Campaign Hub and override management).- Own the hard technical decisions for services that serve hundreds of millions of customers under tight latency and high traffic.- Grow the team and the partnerships, recruiting engineers and scientists who work at the intersection of production systems and science, and aligning stakeholders across Stores, Ads, Devices, and Prime Video who compete for Homepage space.Basic qualifications- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience partnering with product or program management teamsPreferred qualification - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
