Senior Accountant

Astro Digital designs, builds, and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions for applications including Earth observation, communications, in-orbit demonstrations, risk reduction, science, and exploration. Astro Digital is headquartered in Littleton, Colorado, and employs approximately 100 team members. Position Summary The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting and strengthening the company's accounting operations while helping scale financial processes, systems, and controls. This position is responsible for leading key accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic financial initiatives, and mentoring junior accounting staff as the organization continues to grow. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated accounting professional with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional analytical skills, and experience operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. This individual should be comfortable balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with process improvement and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and bank reconciliations Perform detailed financial analysis and provide ad hoc reporting to leadership and department managers Support project accounting and cost accounting activities, including analysis of project costs and profitability Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and operational efficiency Assist with ERP optimization, system implementations, and accounting process automation initiatives Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes Experience preparing financial statements and supporting audits Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience managing complex reconciliations and general ledger activities Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and strong attention to detail Preferred Qualifications CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification Experience with Odoo ERP system (strongly desired) Experience with project accounting and/or cost accounting Experience with multi-entity and multi-location financial reporting Background supporting ERP implementations, system enhancements, and process automation Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, technology, or government contracting environments Job Type Full-Time Salary Range $80,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance options, 401(k) matching, paid holidays, sick leave, and paid time off (PTO). #J-18808-Ljbffr Astro Digital
