As a Mechanic at Lewis Services, you'll keep our vehicles, heavy equipment, and utility vegetation management machinery running safely and reliably so crews can focus on tree trimming and line clearing.

Mount, assemble, and performance-check parts as directed by the Shop Supervisor. Diagnose problems or malfunctions in vehicles and heavy equipment using appropriate tools and experience. Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections per Lewis policy and manufacturer recommendations. Complete repairs, replacements, and adjustments (fluids, parts, and system settings) to restore proper operation. Ensure quality of installation and repairs on Lewis vehicles and equipment. Weld and flame-cut, as required. Use powered tools (e.g., impact wrenches) and hand tools to drill, bolt, and assemble components onto mobile hydraulic equipment. Properly test equipment and document results as required. Stay current on new equipment specs, standards, practices, and procedures. Assist with or operate dielectric test equipment when needed. Provide quality, timely workmanship on each work order and complete re-work as assigned. Follow all established safety protocols; safeguard colleagues and the public around the work area. Maintain a clean, orderly workspace and work vehicle; maintain daily time records for assigned work. Furnish required hand tools as directed by Lewis Services, Inc.; travel long distances as needed (including overnight stays). Perform other related work as assigned.

High school diploma/equivalent and/or vocational training, plus mechanical experience (including welding and/or hydraulics) with vehicles and machinery. Strong welding/mechanical knowledge and ability to read tape measures, diagrams, and blueprints. Ability to understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety requirements for the Mechanic role. Valid driver's license; CDL and medical certification as required for relevant vehicle operation. CPR/First Aid certification (company-provided) and willingness to maintain required certifications. Willingness to travel long distances as needed, including overnight stays. Ability to furnish required hand tools as directed by Lewis Services, Inc. Ensure compliance with all applicable state, local, and federal laws and regulations.

Ability to: Lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height or higher Push or pull up to 50 lbs. Walk or hike up to one mile on uneven terrain Endure extreme climate variances (e.g., severe cold to high heat and humidity) Hear, speak, see, and communicate effectively Operate two-handed tools and equipment Ability to climb onto and crawl under vehicles and equipment. Ability to handle/grasp tools and parts for extended periods. Ability to perform frequent reaching, stooping/kneeling, and repetitive movements. Continuously - Handling/grasping; repetitive movements. Frequently - Lifting/carrying; pushing/pulling; driving; standing; walking; stooping/kneeling; reaching. Occasionally - Sitting; climbing stairs/ladders; working in varied positions around equipment. Rarely - Operating specialized test equipment (e.g., dielectric), as needed. Never - Tree ascending/descending. You should expect variability in size, proportions, conditions, and weights of supplies, equipment, and work conditions. Personal protective equipment is required to be worn by OSHA and ANSI.
