Travel RN - Med/SurgAmerican TravelerNorfolk, Nebraska, United StatesPosition ID: P-760025Position status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: DaysLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1$2,146.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 1 year of Med/Surg experience and EPIC EMR proficiency.DetailsAcute care Med/Surg unit with 38 beds in a Level 3 trauma facilityNurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6 for days and nights, with high patient turnover and frequent discharges/admissionsPatient population includes older teens and adults with diagnoses such as pneumonia, UTI, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, and respiratory illnessSurgical patient population includes orthopedic (hip, knee, shoulder), general surgery (appendix, gallbladder, bowel), spinal surgery, and urology casesEPIC EMR used for documentation3x12-hour day shifts, scheduled 6:00 AM to 6:30 PMWeekend and holiday coverage required on an as-needed basisStandby/call requirement limited to low census situationsMay float to IMCU for Med/Surg assignments24/7 cardiac tech support, RNs not required to interpret own telemetry strips24/7 nursing supervisor and charge nurse coverage on both shiftsCNA support available at 1:8-1:10 ratio for vitals and accuchecks24/7 respiratory therapy support with equipment including trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygenRequirementsActive RN license (NE or Compact) requiredBLS certification (AHA or ARC) requiredCPI certification requiredMinimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience requiredEPIC EMR documentation experience requiredMust be competent in titrating drips including Heparin, and administering set-rate drips such as Bumex and LasixMust be able to safely manage a 1:6 patient ratioExperience with the specific shift applied for (days vs nights) preferredAdditional InformationResponsibilities include bedside shift report, proactive patient rounding, and teamwork including assisting with call lights and supporting CNAsUnit/department-specific orientation consists of 1.5 shiftsNavy blue scrubs requiredNo self-scheduling available for travel RNs, though blocked scheduling may be accommodated at timesMust reside within a 45-mile radius of the facilityFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyCancellation policy allows for up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment
