Senior Accounting Manager

The Senior Accounting Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work closely with finance leadership, including the Controller. Primary Responsibilities As the Senior Accounting Manager , you will have the opportunity to: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Direct month-end, quarter-end, and annual close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership by transforming financial information into actionable business insights. Act as the organization's subject matter expert for Non-Profit Accounting , CFR 200 , Uniform Guidance , and federal grant compliance. Lead the preparation and management of the organization's Cost Rate Proposal and indirect cost recovery strategies. Oversee the Annual Single Audit process and collaborate with auditors, leadership, and funding agencies. Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and compliance programs. Partner with department leaders on budgeting, forecasting, staffing plans, resource allocation, and operational decision-making. Drive process improvement initiatives focused on scalability, efficiency, automation, and reporting enhancement. Champion financial systems optimization, ERP improvements, reporting tools, and technology adoption. Monitor grants, contracts, and restricted funding to ensure compliance and maximize organizational effectiveness. Build strong relationships across the organization and communicate financial concepts clearly to both finance and non‑finance audiences. Support long-range planning and strategic initiatives that advance the organization's mission and future growth. Preferred Experience & Qualifications The ideal candidate brings a combination of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for mission‑driven work. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or similar professional certification preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Experience leading teams and developing accounting professionals. Strong expertise in Non-Profit Accounting , federal grant compliance, and CFR 200 / Uniform Guidance requirements. Demonstrated success overseeing an Annual Single Audit . Experience preparing or managing a Cost Rate Proposal and indirect cost methodologies. Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Sage Intacct, or similar systems. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and business partnership capabilities. Ability to present financial information to executive leadership, board members, and operational stakeholders. Passion for process improvement, technology optimization, automation, AI-enabled tools, and operational excellence.
