The Medical Laboratory Technician / Medical Laboratory Scientist performs diagnostic laboratory testing to support patient care. They process, analyze, and report specimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities:
- Collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Perform laboratory tests across Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Blood Bank, Urinalysis, Blood Gas, and Phlebotomy.
- Identify abnormal or critical results and notify the Pathologist as required.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment safely, monitoring for proper function.
- Document quality control procedures, follow quality assurance guidelines, and adhere to safety practices.
- Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and staff, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Hold an accredited MLT/CLS or MT/MLS program completion, with an associate or bachelor's degree in relevant sciences.
- Possess current ASCP or AMT certification.
- Have 1 to 3 months of relevant laboratory experience or training, or equivalent education and experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency in phlebotomy for all age groups, including neonatal to geriatric patients.
- Show comprehensive knowledge of infection control, safety, and regulatory standards including OSHA, HIPAA, and CMS.
