Underwriting InternDive into the heart of real estate lending as Lima One Capital's Underwriting Intern, supporting both the Residential Transition Lending (RTL) underwriting teams (Core and Strategic Accounts) and the Multifamily underwriting team. You'll gain hands-on exposure to underwriting workflows across two distinct lending businesses, jumping into process improvement, systems and SOP support, client coordination, deal management, and financial analysis. Reporting to the Underwriting Manager, you'll see firsthand how credit decisions get made and what it takes to move deals forward in a fast-paced, regulated environment. If you're a student fascinated by real estate finance, credit underwriting, and the operational engine behind a lending business, this is your chance to learn by doing and make a real impact.ResponsibilitiesRTL Underwriting Support (Core & Strategic Accounts)Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for underwriting workflowsSupport process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, consistency, and accuracy across the underwriting pipelineHelp evaluate and refine systems and tools used in underwriting, including loan origination system workflows and data intake/reportingAssist with client-facing coordination, including gathering documentation, tracking outstanding items, and supporting communication between underwriters and brokers/borrowersPerform financial and credit analysis in support of underwriting decisions, including borrower financials, deal structure, and collateral analysisSupport deal management and pipeline tracking to help ensure deals move through stages on schedule and with proper documentationMultifamily Underwriting SupportAssist with financial spreading and analysis of borrower-provided operating statements (P&Ls, T12s, rent rolls)Support preparation of underwriting packages, including market and comparable analysisHelp maintain data accuracy and consistency across multifamily underwriting models and templatesCross-Functional / GeneralIdentify inefficiencies or inconsistencies in current workflows and propose practical improvementsAssist in documenting process changes to support internal knowledge continuity and audit readinessCollaborate with underwriters, credit analysts, and operations staff across both RTL and Multifamily teamsMaintain confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive borrower, deal, and company information at all times, consistent with company policyRequirementsBachelor's degree or pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Finance, or other related field (e.g., Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or Computer Science/Data Analytics)Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to read nonverbal cuesStrong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and other numeric dataAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling or data analysis is a plusBasic knowledge of, or coursework in, computer science, data analytics, or artificial intelligence tools, with an interest in applying technology to improve underwriting processesHighly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive borrower and company informationPrior internship, coursework, or project experience in real estate, credit, or financial analysis is a plus but not requiredProgram DetailsLocation: Onsite in Greenville, SC.
