A nonprofit skilled nursing facility in Woodbury is hiring a Director of Nursing to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for its Nursing Services Department. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this role plans, organizes, develops, and directs all day-to-day nursing functions in accordance with state, federal, and local regulatory standards, championing resident-centered care and driving quality improvement.

Schedule: Full time, on-site, direct hire.

Compensation: $141,000 to $156,000 per year, based on experience.

What You'll Do: This role plans, organizes, develops, implements, evaluates, and directs the day-to-day operations of the nursing services department, providing clinical and administrative leadership to nursing staff and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high-quality care. The Director of Nursing ensures all nursing services comply with applicable federal, state, and local long-term care regulations and facility policies, determines staffing needs, manages schedules and work assignments, and participates in recruiting, onboarding, and retaining qualified nursing staff.

The role conducts regular clinical rounds to monitor nursing practices, care delivery, medication administration, treatment protocols, and infection prevention standards, and oversees comprehensive resident assessments and person-centered care planning, ensuring changes in condition are promptly identified and addressed. The Director of Nursing collaborates with medical directors, attending physicians, rehabilitation specialists, social services, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care, and leads nursing participation in the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, monitoring clinical quality measures and outcomes.

This role oversees state and federal regulatory surveys, leading the development and implementation of plans of correction for nursing services, and plans and manages the nursing services budget, recommending appropriate staffing, equipment, supply, and operational resource allocations. The Director of Nursing maintains required nursing credentials, certifications, educational competencies, and personnel records in compliance with health system standards, and communicates with residents and family members, responding to clinical concerns professionally and empathetically.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Connecticut
• Active CPR certification
• Proven clinical leadership and supervisory experience within a skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or related acute/sub-acute healthcare setting
• Strong working knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations, CMS Requirements of Participation, infection control protocols, and clinical care standards
• Exceptional clinical judgment, organizational efficiency, financial acumen, and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Long-term care leadership experience specifically
