Sanitation Driver / Pitcher

We're seeking an energetic and reliable Sanitation Driver / Pitcher to join a dynamic team! In this vital role, you'll be one of a 2-person truck team, safely operating a commercial vehicle to transport waste or bulk items across designated routes. You and your partner will swap between driver and pitcher roles throughout the route — as pitcher, you'll ride the back of the truck to collect waste from residential homes. What You'll Do

• Drive garbage trucks on pre-assigned routes
• Ride the back of the truck; load trash safely and transport/dump waste at disposal sites
• Tag bulk items for separate pickup scheduling
• Adhere to established routes and schedules using route maps
• Perform daily pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections; ensure trucks are properly fueled, serviced, and cleaned
• Follow safety protocols for waste handling, disposal, and vehicle operation, including traffic laws
• Perform light preventive maintenance on trucks
• Provide courteous, professional customer service to residents during collection
• Respond to emergency call-outs as needed

What You Bring

• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) and current DOT medical card
• 2 years of commercial driving experience within the past 5 years (waste industry experience a plus but not required)
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
• Ability to pass background and drug screening
• Steel-toed boots required daily
• Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards and PPE use
• Ability to carry, reach, bend, push, pull, and climb during routes
• Physical stamina and ability to work in adverse weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and a team-player mindset
