Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care unit. Clinicians must have experience in neuro stepdown and cardiac telemetry. Required skills include IV starts, port access, and both central and peripheral line care. Candidates must be capable of blood product administration. Competency in respiratory care is needed, including trach management and oxygen delivery methods. Experience in chest tube management and interpreting arterial blood gases is essential. Nurses should be proficient in medication administration, especially with PCA and procedural sedation. Knowledge of heparin protocols and managing cardiac drips without titration is also necessary. Experience dealing with post myocardial infarction, cardiac catheterization, and dysrhythmia interpretation is required. The role involves telemetry monitoring of patients on the unit. Additional competencies include wound care, isolation precautions, renal failure management, and rapid response team utilization. Agency staff may be required to float to other units as needed, provided they have documented competencies. Patient care involves adults in a 24-bed Intermediate Care unit. Daily census typically averages around 22 patients. The facility provides interdisciplinary support from various services.
