Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring moderate sedation skills and Trauma Level II experience at an academic teaching hospital.

Details

• Work in the Endoscopy unit of an academic Level I trauma teaching hospital
• Day/evening 8-hour shifts with rotating start times between 6:30am-10:30am
• Weeknight call requirement with possible need to stay past end of shift to finish schedule
• Perform moderate sedation for GI and pulmonary procedures including ERCP, EUS, EGD, colonoscopy, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy
• Provide pre/post procedure care including PACU Phase I and Phase II recovery
• Utilizes RN-driven sedation assessment approach based on Ramsay Sedation Scale scoring
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Floating required as needed

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required (pending WI license accepted with submission)
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA), CGRN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in GI/Endoscopy specialty within the last 3 years required
• Recent experience recovering sedated GI and pulmonary procedures required
• Academic Level 1-Trauma center or similar size hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
• Must pass telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms
• Skilled in administering and monitoring conscious sedation, airway management, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with equipment such as electrosurgical units, dilators, forceps, and polyp snares
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience administering medications including opioid analgesics, Propofol, Versed, and reversal agents

Additional Information

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Must have prior travel experience, though candidates with high acuity or Level 1 experience may be considered
• Care for inpatient and outpatient endoscopy center patients, with some pediatric and portable/bedside travel cases
• Perform specimen handling and labeling duties
• Assignment location is at University Hospital in Madison, WI, a Magnet-designated facility ranked Wisconsin's #1 hospital
