Transportation Electrification Analyst – California Energy Commission Position Details Salary: $4,047.00 – $6,731.00 per month (minimum salary applied to new to state candidates) Final Filing Date: 7/16/2026 Work Location: Remote‑centered (hybrid) Work Type: Permanent, Full Time Job Summary The Energy Research & Development Division deploys over $200 million annually to advance new scientific approaches and technology innovations to meet the state’s clean energy and climate change policy goals. The Energy Systems & Transportation Branch supports emerging technologies to enable a clean, reliable, and affordable energy system. The Transportation Unit oversees a portfolio of RDD&D efforts focused on innovations that support transportation electrification, vehicle‑grid integration, and adoption of zero‑emission vehicles. Under the supervision of the Supervisor of the Transportation Unit, the Energy Analyst (EA) is part of an interdisciplinary team that assists in the planning and implementation of the California Energy Commission’s research, development, demonstration, and deployment programs. The EA performs consultative and analytical assignments such as program planning, grant and contract management, decarbonization technology assessments, information sharing, stakeholder and community engagement, event coordination, and program evaluation, with a focus on transportation electrification, vehicle‑grid integration, and zero‑emission vehicle infrastructure. Responsibilities Plan and implement research, development, demonstration, and deployment initiatives related to transportation electrification. Conduct program planning and grant/contract management activities. Perform decarbonization technology assessments. Facilitate stakeholder and community engagement, including event coordination. Evaluate projects and programs, producing analytical reports and recommendations. Assist in vehicle‑grid integration and zero‑emission vehicle infrastructure analysis. Knowledge of principles, practices, trends, and terminology of energy programs and governmental functions. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and deliver high‑quality, timely work products. Strong teamwork and independent working skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, editing, and presenting technical information to diverse audiences. Logical and creative reasoning abilities. Use of analytical techniques and discernment of new approaches. Project management principles application.
