Holland High School of Technology is seeking a Director of Operations and Student Support to manage the non-academic operations of the school and to guide the Wellness and Student Support team, with a focus on student safety, support and restorative justice practices. They are responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the school and for coordinating support services for all students while building a positive, inclusive and restorative justice-based school culture and climate.Also, collaborates with community-based organizations that offer youth development opportunities. Operations: Serves as a member of the Administrative Leadership Team Supports the admin team in creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming school environment Leads the school’s Operational Plans and Safety Procedures Leads the Culture and Climate teamand coordinates and plans school-wide events for students, families, and other stakeholders in the community Manages the opening of school on a daily basis Leads and designates administrative duties of the day-to-day operations of the school in areas including coverage, transportation, supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch, and facilities Works with school-based and district-level facilities staff to address facilities concerns and ensure a safe and welcoming school Supports the Head of School with budgeting and purchasing Works with the Head of School and Family Liaison to facilitate the Family Council Works with the Head of School to facilitate the School Site Council Supervises a team of non-instructional staff which include community field coordinators, security paraprofessional, paraprofessionals, custodians, and cafeteria staff Supports the Head of School with reports, compliance, scheduling, and communication Manage room and office assignments Organize and manage key assignments and distribution and collection Manage facilities use requests and facilities repairs requests using district’s online platforms Support the Head of School with Investigatory Meetings (IM) Student Support: Collaborates with Social Workers, Family Liaisons, Security Para, and Community Field Coordinators to engage families and support students Lead restorative justice practices for responding to student behavior issues Ensure that all behavior incidences and code of conduct hearings are recorded in ASPEN Lead, manage and oversee all aspects of student expectations ensuring the BPS Code of Conduct is implemented with fidelity, including protecting the due process rights of students, families, and staff Ensure behavior referrals from teachers are tracked and prepare and analyze the data Collaborate with the Student Support Team in creating intervention strategies and follow-up plans; and maintaining appropriate student behavior records. Serve as a Hearing Officer for infractions of the Code of Conduct and as liaison to BPS in all matters regarding student conduct, including working directly with Security Paras, CFCs, School Safety personnel, Boston Police, and any other agency involved in safety and school discipline matters. Prepare all bullying reports, equity reports, long-term suspension and expulsion hearing forms and CIC packets for Head of School approval. Serve as a member of the Administrative and Leadership Teams, bringing a student safety and support lens to our discussions and decisions. Work collaboratively with the School Leaders and Wellness Team members to establish consistent protocols and procedures to respond to disruptions to learning. Collaborate with SST team to create and maintain intervention plans that support students’ re-engagement in learning and capacity to build positive relationships with community members Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers/families of students to support positive behaviors from students. Collaborate with our SST Leader/ School Social Worker to support students proactively and in keeping with Perform other duties as requested by the Head of School. Qualifications- Required: Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field 3-5 years or more of general management experience in an educational setting Demonstrate capability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, such as school staff, school partners, families, youth, community members and other essential internal and external partners Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously Terms: Managerial Tier C. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 183 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or head of school of the school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
