ZAP Engineering & Construction Services, Inc. GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT
Field Leadership Role Construction Operations Mechanical / Oil & Gas Exempt WHO WE ARE ZAP is a specialized engineering and construction firm delivering complex industrial projects across the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, heavy industrial, mining, and manufacturing sectors. We are a team of technically driven, safety-focused professionals who take pride in building things right - on time, on budget, and without shortcuts. We are growing, and we are looking for high-caliber field leaders who want to own their work, build their career, and make a real impact on project outcomes. THE OPPORTUNITY We are hiring a General Superintendent to lead the field execution of mechanical construction on our oil & gas projects. This is the senior field leadership role on the project - you own safety, productivity, quality, and schedule at the work face, and you direct the craft superintendents, foremen, field administration, and QA/QC team who get the work installed. Your scope spans the full mechanical package: underground piping installation, equipment setting with cranes, equipment dress-out, structural steel pipe rack and platform erection, above-ground piping installation in the rack with welding and fit-up crews, pressure testing, and reinstatement/restoration of piping systems. Construction Operations WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Required
01 Safety Leadership
Owns a personal, visible commitment to safety excellence - not just compliance. Drives a zero-incident culture across all crews, subcontractors, and high-risk operations such as crane lifts and pressure testing.
02 Mechanical Construction Command
Deep, hands-on knowledge of underground and above-ground piping, equipment setting and dress-out, structural steel, welding, fit-up, and pressure testing - knows how the work goes in and what good looks like.
03 Crew & Productivity Management
Plans, sequences, and drives a craft workforce to hit daily and weekly targets. Balances manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize wrench time and minimize downtime.
04 Schedule Execution
Reads and drives the schedule, builds short-interval look-aheads, identifies slippage early, and executes recovery plans without sacrificing safety or quality.
05 Quality & Code Awareness
Ensures work is installed to drawings, specs, and codes the first time. Partners with QA/QC and reads constructability risks before they become costly rework.
06 Communication & Stakeholder Influence
Communicates clearly and professionally across all levels - craft crews, the Construction Manager, PMs, engineering, and clients. Runs effective coordination and keeps everyone aligned.
07 Leadership & Accountability
Leads from the front, takes charge, and holds the field organization accountable. Develops superintendents and foremen, and follows through reliably on commitments.
08 Decision-Making & Judgment
Makes timely, sound field decisions with few guidelines; sets own goals and determines how to accomplish results, escalating early when blockers arise.
09 Adaptability Under Pressure
Thrives in a fast-moving field environment; manages competing demands, weather, and changing conditions without dropping the ball.
10 Planning & Organization
Prioritizes and plans work activities, organizes crews and resources, maintains accurate field records, and develops realistic action plans. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER ZAP Construction LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law.
