To accomplish this goal, the Patient Placement Coordinator will work with all persons needed to evaluate appropriate placement and facilitate communication among physicians, patient transportation providers, nursing staff, and ancillary teams regarding patient throughput.Essential Functions: • Evaluates, processes, and tracks all bed requests for UofL Health • Efficiently assigns appropriate bed placements for all patients needing an inpatient UofL Health bed in accordance with department goals • Coordinate with Transfer Center RNs in continuous review of TeleTracking information to ensure all bed requests are accurate • Proficient working knowledge of Hospital Capabilities & Unit Scopes of Service within each UofL Health Inpatient facility • Participates regularly in all UofL Health Inpatient Facility capacity management huddles • Proactively identifies patient throughput barriers and facilitates escalation to appropriate team • Establishes and maintains strong relationships and communication with facility leadership and Transfer Center RNs in order to provide efficient patient throughput and excellent patient experienceShift Requirements: Shift Length (in hours): 12 hours # Shifts/Week: 3 shifts per week Overtime Required: ☒ Infrequently ☐ Sometimes ☐ Often ☐ n/a (exempt position)Other Functions: • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times • Performs other duties as assigned# **Additional Job Description:**Education: High School Diploma or GED required.Experience: • Two (2) years of inpatient hospital experience (required) • Five (5) years of inpatient hospital experience (preferred) Job Competency: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role: • Customer service-oriented; responsive, informs constituents of process, pleasant to work with, educates and provides timely, accurate information • Ability to use prioritization skills to coordinate different patients coming from multiple areas • Ability to use conflict management skills to develop and implement strategies to assure continuous, smooth inter- and intra-departmental workflow even in the face of conflicting priorities, short term objectives, or limited resources • Ability to build effective, strong working relationships with employees, colleagues, management and vendors through trust, communication, and credibility • Ability to work with others, serve others, help others, lead others, mentor others, take directions from others in the interest of moving process and programs forward to the desired outcome. • Ability to perform work in a neat, efficient, well-coordinated, well communicated manner with a high degree of accuracy and professionalismLanguage Ability: • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formatsReasoning Ability: • Able to critically think through complex patient situations & processes • Able to assist others in developing clinical reasoning skills Computer Skills: • Proficiency in Cerner • Proficiency in TeleTracking software • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Proficiency in computer typing speed and accuracy • Ability to navigate the multiple computer screens and systemsAdditional Responsibilities: • Demonstrates a commitment to service, organization values and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times • Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times • Adheres to organizational and department specific safety standards and guidelines • Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with hospital leadership and team membersUofL Health Core Expectation: At UofL Health, we expect all our employees to live the values of honesty, integrity and compassion and demonstrate these values in their interactions with others and as they deliver excellent service by: • Honoring and caring for the dignity of all persons in mind, body, and spirit • Ensuring the highest quality of care for those we serve • Working together as a team to achieve our goals • Improving continuously by listening, and asking for and responding to feedback • Seeking new and better ways to meet the needs of those we serve • Using our resources wisely • Understanding how each of our roles contributes to the success of UofL Health
