Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing high-quality sushi while maintaining exceptional standards of food safety, presentation, and consistency. This position requires precision, efficiency, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, hand rolls, and other menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared with consistency, quality, and attention to detail.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout each shift.
- Properly handle, store, and rotate seafood, produce, and other ingredients in compliance with food safety standards.
- Assist with daily prep work, including cutting fish, preparing sauces, portioning ingredients, and stocking stations.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving products as needed.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely execution of orders.
- Maintain composure and efficiency during high-volume service periods.
- Follow all company policies, health department regulations, and safety procedures.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous sushi chef experience required.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of fish preparation techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.
