Work Calendar : 253 Grade : I Approved Revised : 1/29/2020 Summary : Maintain an attractive, safe, clean, and secure school, related buildings, and adjacent grounds for students, staff, and the public. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain and cares for district grounds. Cultivate soil as needed and plants seeds, trees and shrubbery under the direction of the Plant Manager. Prune trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance of grounds. Mow lawns and edges sidewalks with appropriate equipment. Fill with soil, gopher holes and any other uneven and hazardous areas of the grounds. Fertilize trees and shrubs on a regular semiannual basis. Report promptly major repairs needed on grounds equipment to supervisor. Connect and depose of leaves, chippings and refuse. Connect sprinkling equipment. Inspect shrubs and trees for evidence of disease or pests and treats with sprays or chemicals as needed. Maintain and recommends purchases of suitable supplies, tools and equipment used in maintaining grounds. Adjust and repairs such equipment as lawnmowers, sprinklers, and hedge shears. Plant seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce an attractive appearance. Assist with facility maintenance as needed. Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Other job related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Minimum Experience: Three (3) or more years of experience in grounds maintenance work. Licensing: Obtain and maintain valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC). Knowledge of: Techniques and methods for organizing and prioritizing work; standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work; standard system functions; project management principles; safety practices; cleaning, sanitation, and health standards; applicable laws and regulations; customer service principles; specialized equipment; modern office technology. Skill in: Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines, prioritizing, attention to detail, operating tools and equipment, customer service, computer usage, and communication with coworkers, supervisors, the public and others. ADA and Other Requirements: Positions require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Working Conditions : Work is mainly performed in an indoor environment; moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions; moderate exposure to hazardous materials; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions and intense noise.
