Produce Department Manager

Description

The Produce Manager is responsible for the overall operation, profitability, presentation, and customer service of the department while maintaining high-quality fresh products. They will order, manage inventory and lead department employees while ensuring the department meets company standards for merchandising, safety, and cleanliness.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:


*Oversee all daily operations of the produce department.
*Order, receive, inspect, and stock fresh products while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
*Maintain exceptionally high standards of quality, freshness, and appearance.
*Monitor product rotation and remove damaged, spoiled, or outdated product.
*Create attractive and well-maintained produce displays.
*Manage department pricing, signage, and seasonal merchandising.
*Control department shrink, waste, and inventory costs.
*Manage sales and profitability and continue to improve department performance.
*Train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate produce department employees.
*Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with company, local, and state standards.
*Ensure proper food-safety, sanitation, and handling procedures are followed.
*Provide excellent customer service.
*Communicate with store management and other departments to support overall store operations.
*Maintain accurate ordering, pricing, waste, inventory, and department performance records.
*Perform other duties as assigned by store management.

Qualifications:

*Previous experience in produce, grocery, or retail preferred.
*Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
*Excellent customer service and communication skills.
*Strong organizational and time-management skills.
*Ability to train, lead, and motivate a team.
*Basic understanding of inventory control, ordering, pricing, and profitability.
*Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
*Ability to lift and move cases of produce and stand for extended periods of time.
