Shifts: M-Th 8:30am - 6pm, Fri 8am - Noon, on call, callback and holidays per unit needs

Key Responsibilities of the X-Ray Technologist

• Verify patients' identity and review physicians' orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
• Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images as per physicians' written orders.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions.
• Position patients, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility when necessary.
• Handle radiologic equipment safely, ensuring minimal radiation exposure.
• Monitor patient status and interpret their age-specific needs.
• Produce diagnostic, high-quality images for radiologist interpretation.
• Notify management of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment promptly.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient data and correctly record images in the PACS system.

Requirements of the X-Ray Technologist

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology with ARRT certification.
• New York State license (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
• 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only).
• Experience using c-arm/o-arm in the past 8 months.
• Recent OR experience is required.
