Supervisor, Financial Counseling Requisition Number: R-000003532 Department Name: Director, Financial Counseling Work Location: UK Chandler Hospital, Pavilion A Grade Level: 7 Type of Position: Regular Position Time Status: Full time Shift: Day (United States of America) Job Summary Responsible for supervising daily Financial Counseling activities to support patient financial assistance programs. Provides oversight to staff by assigning workloads, monitoring performance, and ensuring accurate and timely completion of counseling activities. Ensures compliance with organizational policies, payer requirements, and regulatory standards. Supports patient-centered service delivery by resolving escalated issues and coordinating with revenue cycle, clinical, and administrative teams to reduce barriers to care. Essential Functions Supervises daily workflow of financial counseling staff to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance. Trains, mentors, and evaluates staff to support development and consistent performance. Assigns tasks, monitors work queues, and adjusts staffing as needed to meet service demands. Responds to and resolves escalated patient financial concerns, including charity care and payment plan requests. Ensures compliance with Medicare charity guidelines, HIPAA, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Assists in implementing departmental policies, procedures, and process improvements. Prepares reports on team performance, productivity, and quality metrics for leadership review. Collaborates with internal departments and external partners to address barriers to financial clearance and patient access. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of financial assistance programs, payer requirements, and organizational standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirement High school diploma or equivalent Experience Requirement 0-4 years of related/progressive experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
